We all need help sometimes. You might be a mother struggling with postpartum depression, juggling the stress of kids and work, or coming to grips with an empty nest. You might be a student dealing with the pressures of high school or college, facing the demands of maintaining your grades and social life at the same time. Or maybe you’re someone battling the damage of addiction, staring at the loss of your friends, your job, and even your own identity. Whatever the story, life can challenge us all. For many of us, these are the inevitable transitions of life. For others, they are the afflictions of dependency. Whatever the cause, these obstacles can be scary and overwhelming. It doesn’t make us weak, it makes us human. And overcoming these challenges requires a very human response.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I engage in direct care to help individuals and families work through their obstacles. Using a mindset of patience and understanding, I help people learn to relax and cope with their struggles; to calmly accept their own infallibility and to trust – not in me – but in themselves. There are no shortcuts and quick-fixes. Together, my patients and I gradually work through the problems of their lives, helping them to embrace these inevitable transitions and find long term solutions that fit their individual journeys.
Once my patients begin on that path to wellness, I am with them every step of the way. Therapy is not a casual activity nor a hobby to be dabbled with. Having more than 20 years of experience, I understand the value of staying engaged and present in my patient’s progress, and honoring the trust that they have shown in me. I remain available anywhere in the world, and stand by my patients throughout those important moments, interventions, rehab treatments, and any other notable events that they are facing. The life of a therapist does not rest.
I invite you to reach out and talk. That first step is an important one, and I would be honored to help you take it and begin your journey towards a better life.
