A place to say what you haven’t said
Maybe you’re anxious all the time. Maybe you’re grieving, or stuck, or just tired of holding it together. Individual therapy is time that’s only yours: 55 minutes, one-on-one, with someone who is there to listen and help you move.
What we work on
Anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, relationship strain, and big transitions like starting college, getting married, becoming a parent, or going through a divorce.
How it works
We start by listening. From there, we use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic work, shaped around you instead of a script. You’ll leave sessions with something concrete to try before the next one.
How long does it take?
That depends on your goals and what brought you in. You’ll get an honest read early on, not an open-ended promise.
Topics people bring to individual therapy
People come to individual therapy for many reasons: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress and burnout, relationship difficulties, major life changes, self-esteem, and patterns they keep repeating. Some know exactly what they want to work on. Others only know that something feels off. Both are fine places to begin. Sessions are 55 minutes, one-on-one, and shaped around you.
Our approaches
We draw on several approaches and tailor them to you. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps you change unhelpful thought and behavior patterns. Psychodynamic work explores how past experiences and relationships shape the present. Where appropriate, EMDR helps process distressing memories. We also use mindfulness and practical coping skills. No single method fits everyone, and we’ll explain what we’re doing and why.
Your first session
How often and how long
Many people begin weekly, which builds momentum and trust, then adjust to every other week as things improve. How long therapy lasts depends on your goals and what brought you in. Some come for a focused stretch. Others prefer ongoing support. You’ll get an honest read early on, and we’ll check in regularly about whether it’s working.
Between sessions
Therapy continues in daily life. We may suggest something to practice, such as a skill, a small experiment, or noticing a pattern, and we’ll adapt it to your energy and schedule. It’s normal to feel stirred up after a session, and we’ll talk about how to look after yourself. If you’re struggling between visits, you can reach out, and in a crisis, call or text 988 or call 911.
In person or online
Who individual therapy is for
Anyone who wants support, insight, or change, whether or not you have a diagnosis. That includes people who feel overwhelmed, people stuck in patterns they can’t break, people facing big transitions, and people who simply want a place to think out loud. You don’t have to be in crisis, and you don’t have to be sure what you need.
What makes therapy effective
Research on therapy consistently points to a few ingredients: a strong working relationship with your therapist, clear goals, and active practice between sessions. Technique matters, but fit and effort matter a great deal. That’s why we spend time at the start on understanding you and agreeing on what you want, and why we encourage you to tell us what is and isn’t helping.

Common questions
How do I know if therapy is working?
Early signs are often small: noticing a pattern sooner, sleeping a little better, or feeling less alone with it. We’ll check in on progress and adjust.
What if I don’t click with my therapist?
Tell us. Fit matters, and we’ll help you find another option if we’re not the right match.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes, with the limits the law sets, such as a risk of serious harm. We explain them in your first session.
How soon will I feel better?
Some people notice small relief within the first few sessions, such as feeling heard or having a plan. Deeper change usually takes longer, and it comes in steps. You’ll get an honest sense of the timeline early, and we’ll check in regularly.
Online or in person?
Online sessions are available for clients located in New York. In-person sessions are in Pleasantville, NY.
